PMS
All in your head or all in your Hormones?
Are you pretty miserable sometimes?
Your emotions are all over the place, your headaches, your body bloats and you can’t stop eating for two weeks before your period. You just want to shout, “MAKE IT STOP!” Turns out the ringleader in the whole monthly debacle is hormonal. When your hormones are balanced, you can stop PMS in its tracks.
How are Premenstrual Symptoms (PMS) defined?
The unpleasant symptoms of hormonal imbalance are not solely found in the perimenopause and menopause by any means. Up until these stages, women experienced years of fluctuating PMS hormones each and every month, causing pre-menstrual symptoms (PMS). These fluctuating hormones regulate the menstrual cycle and subsequently cause undesirable side effects.
The main hormones before period onset include estrogen and progesterone. In a basic menstrual cycle, estrogen rises for about two weeks then begins to fall, at which point progesterone begins to rise for about two weeks then falls again. This up and down continues each month. For some women, this fluctuation is more drastic than others, resulting in severe symptoms. Stress and diet can further cause these PMS hormones to derail, resulting in an irregular period.
PMS can be treated with bio-identical hormones.
Dr. Joel Hargrove at Vanderbilt University Medical Center has conducted studies that demonstrate up to a 90% success rate in treating PMS with bio-identical hormones adjustment.
Am I too young for hormones?
Bio-Identical hormones can balance your system no matter what age you are. No two women are alike and your own hormone balance may have been affected by genetics, lifestyle or medications. Gently supplementing with just the right balance can give you relief from “raging hormones!”
